WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item upgrader kit by +3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.

Upgraded gear generally sees more value in trade regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or very high stat variance (like Eth titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect model.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any type of armor or weapons. However, the item used for the upgrade will remain in use for a long time and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create the enchantments.

The upgrader is located in every major city, and can be visited at any time to upgrade your equipment. To keep your gear current it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each couple of weeks.

The cost of upgrading will be based on the current level of the gear being upgraded however, they will always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment from other sources. For example upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar item from another player will cost 105.

Upgrades are useful items that are used to upgrade weapons, tools, armor, and accessories. They can be bought by players from NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for different currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be applied to any weapon or tool using a button, which will display a preview of the item when it is upgraded when the player has enough materials.

The cost of upgrading varies based on the slot for the item and the current item level. For example, weapons will cost more than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with some upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of Flightstones or crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

A lot of locations offer upgraders for items in addition to the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon and the chance to obtain the latest recipe. Crests

Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.

The first thing to note is that crests are only able to be used to purchase equipment of a particular rank, and that each rank has its own requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and easiest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade requires up to 20 crests, contingent on the type or equipment that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through working through content that is of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, dungeons or raids of all difficulties for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons for endgame gear. The crests can later be exchanged at an Item Level upgrade upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.

Utilizing these new currencies isn't too difficult, but the system will introduce a few changes to the overall upgrade process. For instance, when a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is intended to allow players to upgrade their equipment to the highest level possible on all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another important modification is that crests have one use and it's crucial to make use of them in a responsible manner. For instance, it's best to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests with the best equipment you have and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning to create. This is particularly applicable to items like trinkets and rings that fill multiple slots. The discount for the entire account will only be applicable if all slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
