The Best Robot Hoover

Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our tests on floors that are bare and are particularly effective at cleaning pet hair. There are some issues however, which prevent them from being our top option. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's therefore prone to getting stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.

It's still a good value, especially if your office or home has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save money. Additionally, it's quiet and you can use it when you're at work or at school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have an auto-emptying dock, however. If you want to change the mopping pad for a dry one in seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has strong suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the best automatic vacuum and mop robot vacuum for carpets, but it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

This high-performing mop and vacuum combo makes use of advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste, and it also learns the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. You can modify the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones with the well-designed app. Its battery life is average compared to similar models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when in a carpeted area, which helps prevent cross-contamination. It did a decent cleaning job on different rooms and floors with various kinds of flooring, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top notch, and it nimbly avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes and cables.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competitors' boxes This robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive looking models in our evaluations. The latest model from iRobot is also its smartest. It features advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads on its own).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that has an exemplary 10/10 in our tests thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has an easy mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's an eerily noisy device which could be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work or at night as you attempt to sleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, though it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally powerful and look better. If you're willing with a bit more noise and some additional cost this is a powerful two-in-one that will satisfy most people.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a lot of advanced features to help you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine like Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and refills the water tank, and cleans and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and detect obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this was not 100% foolproof during our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also comes with a feature called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house depending on how dirty these areas tend to be.

If you have a larger home, you should consider choosing a model that has zones or spot cleaning modes. This allows you to inform the robot of which area of your house needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice control. A stair mode can be useful if you own a lot furniture. For busy families, a recharge feature and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off could be very beneficial.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than the price suggests. It vacuums well and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using only one pad and a reciprocating movement that cleans better that most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tried. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured application and an auto vacuum and mop-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app guides you through a mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, plan the perfect spot for cleaning or sort out your rooms with the most dirt to ensure better performance. The app also provides access to a host of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot hoover and mop vacuums, which means it can reach corners and underneath furniture more easily. It features a powerful 8000 Pascal suction, as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans the area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble adorable eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it is more likely to be stuck on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.
