It's very quick and does an excellent job of cleaning my two bedroom apartment. It vacuums carpeted rooms incredibly quickly and the hardwood floors in the kitchen, hallways, and living room in a single sweep. Its 8,000pa suction motor will quickly pick up dirt, droppings, and pet hair. Carpet detection increases power automatically when it encounters rugs and the two side brushes help to tease away debris from corners.

The mopping performance, while still impressive, isn't as impressive. The mop rotates quickly and utilizes 2.2lbs to scrub dirt and stains. I've noticed that the front arm sticks out a bit more than other robots. This is helpful when you're trying to get into tight corners or along baseboards. The front arms can also be used to collect larger debris such as books and toys that have been damaged.

The X1 Omni is notable for its enormous dock that doubles as an charging base for the robot, a sink for cleaning and two 4-liter water tanks. It also houses a 2.5-liter dust bin and the 2.5 milliliter dust bin.

The base has a few control buttons, which allow you to manually begin a cleaning task, recall the robot or use the dock's auto-emptying procedure. Press two of the buttons to switch on a child lock, which is a nice option for parents concerned about children playing with the vacuum.

The X1 Omni cannot automatically switch from mopping mode to vacuuming mode during a cleaning session. You will need to manually swap between the two, which isn't too bad apart from the fact that mopping pads aren't washed and dried between uses, which can lead to mildew or mold.

On the positive side it's worth noting that the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot, thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who conceptualized its modern, sleek base and mopping pad apparatus. It's a big departure from the utilitarian, all-black bases used by competitors like Roborock and iRobot and a pleasing view in a market that is dominated by bulky boxes and clunky models.
