Window handles are among the most used parts of your double-glazed windows. Over time, they may be worn out or rusty.

To replace a UPVC window handle you need to know the length of the spindle of the handle you have currently and its fixings. The best way to do this is to look at the base of your previous handle.

Handle

Over time, uPVC sliding door handles and window locks can be damaged by wear and tear or intentional or accidental damage. It could be that the lock or handle becomes difficult to open or close, or that they are not even locked. If this happens it may be tempting to replace the entire window unit, but this isn't always the case. Most of the time, it's the situation that a new handle or lock will suffice.

The espagnolette design is the most popular uPVC window handle. The handle has a spindle that is affixed to the handle and is inserted into a gearbox which operates the multipoint locking mechanism within the window. It is essential to match the correct handle and lock to your windows to ensure that they function properly, which is why we stock a wide selection of replacement handles for all types of uPVC windows.

It is a good idea to replace a uPVC handle, to use screw covers to shield the screws from corrosion and to keep them secure. Alternately, you can utilize a spacer or washer to allow for a tighter seal. A screw cap will prevent debris and water from entering the handle, causing damage.

A squeaky hinge could be an indication that the hinges need to be replaced. It's typically due to metal rubbing against metal. A small amount of lubricant might help, but if the noise persists it is likely that the hinges require replacement upvc window handles.

This is due to plumb windows being able to avoid optional binding. The operating sash is aligned with the frame so that the window will open and close properly. You can tell whether the replacement has the exact same height of step as the previous one by measuring the distance from the crank arm guide bushing to the notch on the track at the bottom of the frame. You can also measure the length of the spindle on your current handle to determine the size of the replacement.

The type of window handle that you have will determine what kind of crank mechanism you need for your casement or awning windows. Espag composite door handles have a mental spindle on their back, which is connected to the frame of the window, and controls the window mechanism, while cockspur handle have pegs that are held in place by three or four screws that are inserted into the frame and sash.

It's simple to replace the window operator once you've identified the correct replacement. First, remove any trim mounting screws that are on the window's casement cover and carefully lift it up to reveal the insides of your window operator (Photo 1). Compare the new operating lever with the previous one and remove any trim screws that have rusted.
