What is an Upgrade Item in Genshin Impact?

Upgrade items are special items that assist certain Pokemon evolve. They are obtained by spinning Pokestop photo discs and are sometimes used as rewards for events related to evolution.

They can be incorporated into trinkets, armors, weapons and gathering tools in order to increase stats or effects. Certain upgrades also come with a special cosmetic effect when employed.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into trinkets, armors, and weapons to create a bonus effect or a special feature when the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, looted, obtained as rewards, or even dropped. Upgrade components must be of a higher level than the item upgrader they are being added to, and many also require the item upgrader kit (more information) to be equipped with an upgrade slot to accept them. Upgrade components can be replaced by other upgrade components, except for inscriptions and glyphs that are only able to be removed or added.

The most popular upgrade components are gems, infusions, and enrichments. Gems are upgrade components that can be put in any equipment, and provide smaller bonuses than other upgrade components. Infusions and enrichments are specific upgrade components that can only be added to ascended gear that is not an ampulet, and some legendary equipment. You can retrieve them from the equipment they are located in by using an Upgrade Extractor Device, or by salvaging with Black Lion Salvage Kit, or Ascended Salvage tool.

Other upgrades such as glyphs and inscriptions are able to be removed or added to the gathering tools. They can have a variety of bonus effects such as increasing the speed of gathering or adding more materials. Inscriptions can be used to change the name of an object. For example the sword could be changed to a 'Fiery Sword,' by adding a Sword Pommel of fortitude or a Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor by adding Rune of Minor Vigor.

Glyphs

Glyphs symbolize a concept or idea using symbols in character. For instance, a glyph could be an icon or a drawing of a heart or a flag. These symbols can also be used to create an entire visual language. A glyph may also have a standard code that is used by all fonts to identify it. This code is known as Unicode.

The shape of glyphs dictates which Primary Stats and Secondary Stats can be added. Some glyphs have both Primary and Secondary Stat bonuses, while others have only one or the other. The glyphs with both Secondary and Primary Stats will add to the total stats of the unit, while glyphs with only a single Primary Stat bonus will multiply the value of that stat.

Using glyphs is very easy. Simply hold and click on the text insertion to open the Glyphs Panel, and then choose one of the glyphs. View All Glyphs lets you view the complete list of glyphs. The symbols will be displayed in order based on their Unicode code. Click on the one you would like to add.

When you create the glyph set for the first time, it is saved with other InDesign preferences in an image file that can be shared. The glyphs are not attached to any particular document. However, you can edit them by choosing Edit Glyph Set from the Glyphs panel menu. You can also choose whether the glyphs will be remembered by their fonts when you insert them into text.

It is recommended to begin farming rare glyphs as soon as you can. They are available in World Tier 3 Dungeons as well as Nightmare Dungeons and Helltides. They are much easier to find than the rare shards that you can get by crafting items, and provide an upgrade to your gear. Rerolling
