For instance, the Q5's navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology which means it's susceptible to getting hung up on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't come with cameras that let it see the corners of a room.

It's still a great deal particularly if your office or home has lots of unfinished floors and you want to save some money. It's also very quiet and operates while you're at work or school. The only thing it doesn't have that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. And it's less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle, however. And, if you need to change the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as quick navigation make it easy to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles, like pet hair. It also features a self-emptying dustbin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it vacuums. This is a feature that we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

The robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular look that looks much like a Roomba model than the boxy models of the competition. It's one of our most attractive robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also the most intelligent. It has advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).

It's also the sole robot vacuums best vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is due to the combination of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, with an easy mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in mornings before work or during the night when you're trying to fall asleep.

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take charge of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot uses the combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles, making it more efficient than its top rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazards detection however this was not completely foolproof in our tests, and could be confused with obstructions or power cords.

The vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job. It also comes with an attribute called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the home based on how dirty the areas tend to be.

If you have a bigger home, you should consider selecting a model with a spot or zone cleaning mode.
