Path of Exile Item Upgrading

The ability to upgrade items allows players to enhance their weapons and gear by adding new affixes, boosting the base stats of the item or giving additional benefits. To upgrade items, the player must have the item in their inventory and have access to the kiln.

Typically objects that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base, while items with strong bases like eth titans do not vary significantly in their stats after being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components are items that can be used to upgrade trinkets, armor, weapons and tools for gathering, offering an attribute bonus or extra impact when the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, gathered in loot, dropped by enemies or received as a reward from missions or chests. Some upgrades additionally have special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require the equipment to be at a certain level before they can be upgraded.

To upgrade the quality of a weapon, armor or other item in the game, the player will have to select it and then click on the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will display on the right-hand side of the screen a preview showing the expected upgrade statistics and the necessary component or materials.

There are three types of upgrade components including universal upgrades, prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, which include gems, can be put in any kind of equipment, and offer lower bonuses than upgrade components that are type-restricted. Infusions are jewels that are only available in legendary and ascended equipment. They provide the same benefits as jewels, however they cannot be used in other equipment. In the case of upgrades for gathering tools If a player replaces one glyph with another, the old glyph will be returned to the inventory. However, replacing any other upgrade component can destroy it, excluding inscribed glyphs that can be swapped.

Leveling

The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some important changes from the previous versions. Gear is now broken down into tracks and items can only be upgraded a specific number of times before being "leveled out." The costs for upgrading increase with each level, but the materials required for upgrades do not. This allows players to focus their efforts on a handful of key items and maximize their impact, instead of spreading the upgrade costs across several pieces.

This allows the item upgrade to receive upgraded components and a greater chance of success. This bonus is called the Artisan's Energy. It will reset at 0 if the upgrade fails, or increases if the upgrade succeeds.

When a piece is upgraded to its highest level, it is able to get affixes to boost its attributes. The number of affixes that are available is contingent on the item's base type. For instance, a rare or unique weapon that has a standard base will have only two affixes for it, whereas legendary armors will have up to eight affixes available for it.

Each upgrade step will require a certain number of Flightstones and crests, depending on the current level of the item and the slot it's in. Weapons typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.

If an item doesn't reach its maximum level, the NPC grants the player the option to transfer it to a different character and then re-infuse it with a new set or upgrades. This process takes up to two hours and will cost the same amount of materials, though it will result in less chance of success.

To measure the height of a structure engineers employ an instrument to compare the measurement with an established reference point like a benchmark or the elevation of the ground. This method is known as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method ensures that structures are built to an extremely high degree of precision and safety.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of changing an item's upgrade components. It is a crucial aspect of the game and can dramatically enhance an item's strength or damage, as well as other characteristics. You can do this through the item menu, or by pressing the Reroll button whenever you upgrade an item. Rerolling an item can be costly and should be done sparingly.

The game lets players recycle upgraded items, and use them to earn reroll tokens. These tokens can be used to upgrade either the original item or a similar item. Sets
