Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting

Volvo drivers love their key fob's convenient remote that comes with features. They can lock and unlock their car or start the motor and even find it using an app on their smartphone.

Place the fob's face up on a clean surface. Find the button that will let it go. Place a coin in between the cover of the fob and the fob, then carefully pull it up.

Locking the Doors

Volvo's remote key fobs will unlock the tailgate, doors, and the flap that holds the fuel filler of your vehicle by pressing of one button. They can also switch on the ignition, activate the alarm, and even operate your sunroof when it's installed. With these options you'll never fumble for your keys or lock yourself out of your car again.

To unlock the windows you need to press and hold the unlock button on your Volvo remote for four seconds. This will lower the windows as well as the sunroof if you have one. When you're done with your vehicle, you can shut all windows by pressing the lock button again for four seconds.

You can also use the key fob to turn on your car's panic alarm. This will produce an ominous sound that will draw attention and discourage thieves. It also helps you to get home safely when you've been out all night. This feature comes in handy should you live in a secluded area or want to secure your family members when they are away.

Opening the Tailgate

Volvo's key fob is packed with a variety of useful features. They are great if you're overwhelmed with shopping, or helping your children to pack their sports gear after practice.

Turning off the Alarm

Modern key fobs provide a great deal of convenience over a regular mechanical car key. But, they're not working perfectly for long, and their batteries eventually go out of service. Set out your key fobs, batteries, and extra keys on a clean surface. Locate the small black button at the lower left corner of the key fob and move it to the right. The cover should come loose and fall off leaving the key's mechanical blade underneath it.

The key fob's unlock button two times quickly, and you'll be able opening all doors and the tailgate. The lock button will also close the sunroof and windows (if fitted) by pressing it for 2 seconds. Reconnect the battery and the alarm should cease. If it doesn't work, the owner's manual should provide a way to reset the system.
